Children at Browney Academy were all smiles yesterday as their brand new playground was formally opened.
The schools’s outdoor space was recently transformed with the installation of a new top of the range, one of a kind playground. See pictures above.
The unique ‘Woodland Village’ playground was officially opened yesterday after months of anticipation and excitment. The new playground, designed and produced by play experts PlayForce, features a seated performance area, play and climbing equipment, new sports pitch and fun games markings.
Through funding made available by Browney's sponsor, the North East Learning Trust, and thanks to help from volunteers from Northumbria Water’s Just an Hour scheme and the North East Demolition Company, the playground was able to come to life.
Catherine Harris, Headteacher at Browney Academy said: “Play is such a huge part of learning for young children and this outdoor space is ideal in supporting that. We are absolutely thrilled with the new playground and our children are too. It is great to see the excitement on their faces as they head out the doors and into the Woodland Village.”
Janice Gorlach, Deputy CEO of the North East Learning Trust added: “Prior to the installation of the playground, the school had almost no outdoor play facilities. The Woodland Village has put that right and the school can now boast one of the very best facilities in the whole region. Children at Browney Academy deserve to have access to this great resource, which is, as far as we know, unique to this area.”
To see the playground for yourself, you can visit the us at our open evening on 20th October between 1-3pm and 5-7pm.
